Heart Attack
If you have any of these symptoms, it may mean that you have a heart blockage and are in danger of a heart attack.
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Abdominal pain (yes it can be a sign of a heart attack)
- Pain between your shoulder blades
- Numbness and pain in the left arm
- Neck and jaw pain. This is another one that you probably have not heard of before, but it’s not uncommon
Rhythm Problems
I explain to my patients heart problems divide into two groups: plumbing issues and electrical issues. Think of your arteries as pipes. If one of the pipes is blocked, you can have a heart attack. But sometimes the electrical impulses of your heart can be off as well, giving you palpitations, or any of the other symptoms below.
- Racing of the heart
- Irregular heartbeat
- Dizziness and light-headedness
- Fainting
Congestive Heart Failure
Congestive heart failure means your heart cannot keep up with your body’s demand for blood. If not treated, it can lead to death. Luckily, there are ways of treating it. Here are some of the symptoms:
- Fatigue
- Abdominal and leg swelling
- Getting winded fast
- Problems breathing while laying flat
- Cold sweats
